The Process

Problem Statement:

A typical calendar app allows users to add, edit, and delete events, set reminders, and receive notifications. Users can also create recurring events, such as weekly meetings or monthly appointments.

The app may also include features such as the ability to invite others to events, view shared calendars, and sync with other calendars such as Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook. Also it can help user to block a meeting rooms and conference rooms.

Project Scope:

  • To create a mobile friendly app for in house employee's

  • Time Duration : 1 Week

Assumptions made:

User uses bicycle rental app during an emergency as they don’t carry laptop during an emergency and book a meeting immediately.

  1. The employee IDs is the only need to access the applications.

  2. Considering an edge case where there are more than 1 person requiring booking the same meeting room.

  3. Giving employee's the freedom to book at their convenience.

The Results

Usability Testing:

I gave the user the following tasks to perform on the prototype:

Task 1 (main task): Create a new meeting.

Task 2 (sub task): Adding members to meeting and adding them to calendar.

Task 3 (sub task): Use flags to differentiate between meetings.

Task 4 (sub task): Update the conference room selection.

Observations & Learnings:

  • A good layout can accommodate a lot of useful information in a way it can be accessed easier.

  • Thinking of an edge case, even when the probability is low can open up new perspectives in creating a good user experience during life threatening situations when multiple meetings are book at the same conference meeting..:
